The Center for Teaching and Learning is here for you!
We provide programs and resources to support your teaching goals. We can help you to integrate new technologies into your teaching, explore different pedagogical approaches, or connect with other faculty members with similar teaching interests or concerns.
We have a dedicated space in the library for you.
The Faculty Suite in McKillop 007 is your space to work, converse, and collaborate. If you don’t have an office, need a quiet space to work, meet with colleagues or students, or just want to hide away on campus, this is your place.
The area is divided into three zones: a mini computer lab, a meeting/workspace, and a collaboration and conversation space. A snack area includes microwave and fridge if you need to store or heat a meal, and coffee and tea service. The space is equipped with computers, printer, power and Ethernet connections for your laptop, projector, Smartboard, and whiteboards; perfect for working or meeting.
If you would like to schedule a department or committee meeting in the space, email [email protected] to reserve the space.
We provide Professional Development opportunities.
Programs such as Lunch ‘n’ Learns, webinars, special presentations, and sponsored attendance at regional faculty development conferences provide faculty an opportunity to explore topics of interest. Faculty can join a Faculty Community of Practice to explore a topic in depth and apply it to their teaching. There are also opportunities for faculty to share their expertise as Faculty Fellows or as Quality Matters Peer Reviewers.
The CTL supports the integration of technology in teaching and learning.
We provide one-on-one consultations to determine your learning goals and match tools to the goals, hands-on training in our instructional technology software applications such as Canvas and Turnitin, and workshops and guidance in using technology to make teaching more effective and improve student learning outcomes. Whether you are teaching a fully online course or using technology to enhance your face-to-face course, we can help you gain the skills and knowledge you need to be successful.
You can also join our Tech Tester team. The CTL has equipment such as iPads, eReaders, voice recorders, and clickers that can be borrowed to be utilized in your teaching or professional development.
